After my last post concerning the fact that I sometimes yell at my beautiful Alphie, I have been doing some serious thinking about it. I recently came across some very thoughtful and amusing quotes about children and parenting while I was researching the subject for my own benefit.
See if you guess who wrote them (don’t look at the bottom of this post, where I reveal who the writers are, as it will spoil the surprise) as I am sure you will be amazed by the identity of some of the authors when they are revealed!
Remember Don’t Look.
If you bungle raising your children, I don’t think whatever else you do matters very much.
The best way to make children good is to make them happy.
I would have given anything to keep her little. They outgrow us so much faster than we outgrow them.
There are only two lasting bequeaths we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots the other wings!
I am prouder of my years as a single mother than of any other time of my life.
All well-known writers in one way or another. Each one has spent time noting down what they personally think of their experiences as a parent and their views concerning parenting.
I am learning that a great parent is like a great teacher – someone who takes their hand, opens their minds and touches their hearts. We as parents are by far the most important teachers our kids will ever have – DON’T EVER FORGET THAT.
Keep in mind too, that times are forever changing so don’t always model your parenting after your parents style. Its only going to bug kids (especially when they get a little older) if you say something along the lines that your parents would never have permitted this or that.
Listen to me lecturing, but I am learning too and pass things along only when I have found them of benefit first, in the hope that my learning can help another parent.
